The Big Upstruct Feast

September 25th, 2008

Celebrating upstruct berlin oslo’s 3 year anniversary, we threw a party down at Indigo in Oslo last Friday. Judging by headache it was a wicked feast, with more-than-anyone-could-handle-believe-it-or-not of delicious organic saussages, greatmusic, great beer, great refreshing drinks from our friends in Jägermeister, and… well, most of all it was excellent ’cause of all the great people! Thank you all for coming, we appreciate you being there!
And – both for you jolly people turning up, and for those who didn’t manage; don’t worry, in a year comes another reason to have a beer or 17, if not earlier. Until then, you can of course spend your time practising a bit of foosball ;)

Check also out some pictures from the party on our Flickr-stream to the left!

Blog-o-mat

September 17th, 2008

The good old weblog is an artform in itself, where we won’t claim a position up front. However, as we have updated the blogware running in the background, we don’t have anyone else but ourselves to blaim if the baby doesn’t get updated. We’ll do our very best, that’s the promise we can make. From now on, our posts will even be signed! Stepping out of the shadows of the valley of anonymity…

Before we unleash all our rants, here’s some links to some of the blogs I enjoy reading:

Slanted (de)  - german excellent graphic design magazine
The Book Design Review (us)
Matze Schmidbauer (de) - photographer buddy in berlin
Rushprint (no) – great norwegian film blog from great friends
Kjeft a! (no) – norwegian design blog
Heia Espen (no) – photographer buddy in oslo

Master of the floating heads

September 17th, 2008

A great video showing my hero in movie poster design

The link is taken from the excellent design blog Speak Up, from the same posse who do Brand New, where they post and discuss new corporate designs and such from around the world. The last post is discussing the rebranding of the Norwegian Post, launched last week it has been causing several discussions and outbursts. I don’t wanna judge it completely before I’ve seen it in use, in context, but until now it seems pretty weak to me. A process is a process is a process, they say, but what good does it do when you process your way through message, history, tradition and handcraft, and end up with a toothless fairytale in pink. Speaking of colours, I’m surprised they didn’t use more beige!
